MTM Hydro · PF22.2 · Stainless 1/4″ Plug · Q1 2024 Revision · US Retailer: Detail Division
Cast Brass Head. Stainless 1/4″ Plug. Full Rebuild Parts Availability. The foam cannon that set the benchmark — revised, refined, and still the one to beat.
The MTM Hydro PF22 has been the industry's gold standard of foam cannons for as long as anyone in this business can remember. From the weekend enthusiast to the seasoned professional — if you've owned a few foam cannons in your lifetime and you've had one of these, it's immediately obvious why the reputation exists. Proper foam production, a meaningful range of adjustments, and the ability to actually rebuild the unit with parts that are kept in stock.
The PF22.2 is MTM Hydro's latest revision — released Q1 2024 — and it addresses the last remaining spec that needed updating. The unit now ships with a stainless steel 1/4″ plug as standard, effective across all units from Q3 2024 onward. This is the version carried here, and it is the only version worth owning.

Why the Stainless Plug Matters
Every PF22.2 listed here ships with a stainless steel 1/4″ male plug — and that is not a minor detail. If you find the PF22 priced lower elsewhere, the first question worth asking is what plug is actually fitted. A standard brass plug in a wet, chemical environment corrodes. It seizes. It becomes a problem that the rest of the cannon's quality has to apologize for.
The stainless plug costs more to produce. That cost is built into this unit. A corroded fitting is an avoidable problem — and we choose to avoid it.
"If you have owned a few foam cannons in your lifetime and you've got one of these, it's obvious why they have the reputation they do."

Perfect For
Compatibility Note — Residential Pressure Washers
The PF22.2 ships with MTM Hydro's standard 1/4″ male plug — the industry standard for commercial and professional use. However, certain residential pressure washer models from brands including Generac, Greenworks, Ryobi, and AR Blue Clean use couplers with tighter tolerances that may not receive an MTM plug directly.
The issue is dimensional — the chamfer and neck on an MTM plug run approximately 1.5mm shorter than some residential couplers require. If your pressure washer falls into this category, a specific 1/4″ male plug adapter resolves it entirely. Once the correct plug is fitted, the performance of the PF22.2 makes finding that fitting completely worth it.
Not all models from the brands listed are affected — only certain units. If you have questions about your specific setup, reach out before ordering.
The MTM PF22 earned its reputation by being genuinely better — better construction, better adjustability, better foam output, and the kind of parts support that lets you maintain rather than replace. The PF22.2 with stainless plug is the version that should have always existed.

Certain residential pressure washers (Generac, Greenworks, Ryobi, AR Blue Clean — select models only) may require an additional 1/4″ male plug adapter due to coupler tolerance differences. Not all models from these brands are affected. Once the correct fitting is in place, the PF22.2 performs exactly as it should. Contact us if you are unsure about your setup before ordering.
All PF22.2 units listed here ship with the stainless steel 1/4″ plug — effective Q3 2024. If you see the PF22 offered at a lower price elsewhere, verify the plug specification. A brass plug in a wet, chemical environment corrodes and eventually seizes. The stainless plug is not a premium upgrade — it is the correct specification for this tool.
