The MTM SGS28 Trigger is my own gun of choice for now. Slightly smaller in the hand than the SG35 and SGS35 variants, this gun utilizes plated and stainless for better corrosion resistance than brass units. Swiveled base helps eliminate hose-wrap and helps with wrist fatigue on a long job.
This may be the 'compromise', middle of the road option offered by MTM, but the value and weight savings the SGS28 offers makes it my pick.
Rebuild kits are also available for these triggers should something go wrong.
Understanding Temp Ratings:
Each MTM Trigger has a temperature and pressure rating. This rating refers to the capacity of the internal piping and brazing to withstand temps, not necessarily the fittings and o-rings associated with each build.
Standard fittings (used in each build here) utilize a nitrile o-ring which has a melting point of around 250ºF. This figure may vary depending on the changes in nitrile blend than can occur in production. If you are using this gun or any other with a heated system, it is advised that a PTFE or Viton o-ring is sourced to handle associated temperatures the gun will experience. This option has a 450ºF melting point and is better suited for your application.
The rating stated on the side of each trigger is for the trigger internals, and not for the associated components.
Made from industry leading materials by MTMHYDRO in ITALY.
Optional PRIMA fittings may be selected with your purchase
I’m beyond frustrated with the MTM SGS28. I bought it in September 2022, and it has been nothing but problems since day one. First off, the O-rings are a joke—they barely last long enough to finish a job, forcing me to replace them constantly. Now, to make matters worse, it’s leaking internally. This thing is supposed to handle heat up to 300 degrees, but I’m only running it at 160 degrees, and it still can’t handle it.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, the wand gets stuck in the coupler, and I literally have to use a vise to get it out every single time. This is incredibly inconvenient, especially when I need just the spray gun to clean tight areas. The quality is garbage for the price. Save your money—this product is a total waste. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Customer contacted, we spoke about the application the SGS28 is being used in, and the suggestion was made for a different gun to be used instead.
Regardless of items purchased, the most important thing to me is customer experience. Clear communication, and coming to a resolution that works for both me and the customer. This customer was kind enough to take me up on my suggestion (using an SG35 gun instead), and so far so good.
Great to work with you Logan, thanks for the opportunity to try and solve the problem and make things right between us!
This has been my go to pressure washer gun for years. I cannot recommend this enough.
Glad I made this purchase. Light weight. Feels good in the hands. Super soft trigger.
