Founded in 2017, Detail Division is the sole US importer and representative of KLiN Korea, manufacturer of the highest level microfiber products for detailing. We are committed to sourcing high end, highest function products and materials available from around the world. In 2019, the honor of representing Carbon Collective UK for the US market was given to me as well.

 

The Beginning of the Addiction.

My father worked for an auto supply store in Quincy, Massachusetts his whole life. I would go to work with him, 14 hour days + commute into the city, and he was tireless. Six days a week. On Sunday, he would pull his 1988 Corvette out of the garage, take me for a drive around town, and then we would wash & wax it together. He taught me everything that I am truly passionate about; hard work, determination, and pride. Dad is retired now, but he still gets excited talking to me about detailing as the market is so different from his days. The Corvette is parked on an oriental rug and has not moved in years until my last visit. 13,000 miles on the clock and this is how it looks 34 years after production. NOT perfect, but to the best of his ability.

Now.

While my dad has not moved on, the market has. With the determination and tenacity that my father has given me, I decided to bring the products that I get excited about to the marketplace. The products that are a result of hard work, of determination, of pride. You are in the wrong place if you are seeking the status quo. It is an honor to serve people that share the same love for detailing, it's like spending time with my father.

Experience & Background 

Car detailing became an outlet for me around 2000. While it was always there as part of my relationship with my dad from a very young age, interests ramped up along side the build of a car... and the drive to have the quality of detailing products match the workmanship and quality of parts going into my 'build'. That gave birth to learning to import products from other countries and broaden my own scope of what was available worldwide when the internet was not where it is now with the availability of information. Brands and manufacturers were hunted through imported magazines.

Move forward a few years, importation lead to serving as a products tester for manufacturers. Unpaid, but simply to provide feedback and information for manufacturers looking to broaden their own horizons to new markets. Diminishing abrasives testing, ceramics testing sourced from a German manufacturer in 2013 before they were available to the public, all for some now well-known companies operating in the US detailing market today. 

While I am not responsible for their creation, formulations, or anything presently, the reviews I provided helped fine tune things to account for climate variations and producing results closer to the expectations of the general public from an outside view point that had nothing to do with the internals of the manufacturer. 

I've also been lucky enough to make friends along the way; giving me exposure to work in a body shop, restoration shops, and work alongside a friend that handled the importation and federalization of grey market vehicles for a high level of clientele. 

I feel proud to operate in an industry of people that are passionate about the automobile in all forms. I work along side manufacturers that truly make the grade in my own work, and that gives me the confidence to associate my name and reputation near what they create for markets on a global scale. A commitment to quality and customer service has earned a loyal following, and I am honored to have been a very small factor in the amazing results of countless enthusiasts and professionals alike. 

These cars, the people behind their development and manufacture, and the fearless drivers that made them great in motorsport DESERVE to be respected at the highest levels. This is an exercise in paying respect to all of those things with a mindset of cars, regardless of cost or who owns them, to remain special. Be cared for they way they should be, without losing sight of the need for them to also be DRIVEN as was intended.
