How the hell do I even explain this one?
My father was in the Navy around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. While he was on the aircraft carrier, his father passed away. The passing of his dad and then the end of his military contract pushed him towards some soul searching in the form of a 3-month trip to Germany after being discharged.
I grew up with the stories of Germany; a country that felt like home to him. Motorcycle qualifying and racing at the Hockenheimring every morning while washing down his morning bread with a beer. High speed jaunts down the Autobahn in a 911 which belonged to a girl he met along the way. Amazing food. People that were welcoming and friendly to a foreigner living out a dream while dealing with some demons.
Beer steins were on the wall of the house I grew up in. My parents were friends with an old German couple that sold antiques. Sunday breakfast literally had Volksmusik on the radio while my father tried to recreate the magic he had eaten years ago... and of course the constant talk of the amazing cars he would see at the track.
The Detail Division logo is modeled after the beer livery that adorned every panel of those race cars in the 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s . I want to raise a glass to you and share something special with you because that's what's special to me. Danke schön!
The Detail Division 1L Dimpled Beer Mug (Bierkrug) stands at 8" tall and has a 4" mouth. It holds over 33oz of beer. Glass weight alone is 48oz. These were sourced by the company that manufactures for the breweries in Germany, commonly found at Oktoberfest. Glass work is done in Poland, and the high temp logo is painted on in Germany. These are as authentic as it gets.
